Bring It On: The Musical at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center

Remember high school? For some graduates, those four years bring back memories of best friends, beloved sports teams, favorite teachers and romantic prom nights. For others, there’s a sea of awkward dates, divisive cliques and maybe a betrayal or two. In reality, for most , high school was a mix of all of the above. Whether you’re a parent of a high schooler, a young professional, a preteen, or in the thick of high school yourself, the teen years seem universally relatable and, as such, always make great entertainment for all ages. Well, Santa Clarita is in luck, because this spring, the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at the College of Canyons is serving up a good dish of teenage nostalgia with the cheerleading comedy, Bring It On: The Musical.

Based off the popular film, starring Kirsten Dunst and Gabrielle Union, Bring It On follows two rival cheerleading teams as they vie for the top spot at Nationals. The drama unfolds when one team captain realizes that all her crowd-pleasing routines are actually rip-offs of the rival squad! Since the College of the Canyons Theatre is presenting their own version of this hilarious story, audiences can experience all the dances and songs, sass and laughs for a fraction of the Broadway price. Tickets range from $5 to $10, so prepare to make it a fun-filled night for couples, friends and kids.

Speaking of children, a portion of the proceeds raised by the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center go toward supporting their Santa Clarita Performing Arts K-12 Education Outreach Season. This program helps fund and supply Santa Clarita’s students with ample opportunity to engage in the arts. Through workshops, bus-in outreach programs and more, children and teens experience the value of an arts-focused life. Some secondary school opportunities include One World Hip Hop classes, Mask Movement Theatre, Dance and Community programming, and Music/Vocal activities. With classes like that, some of Santa Clarita’s youth might be getting one-way tickets to Broadway themselves!
